About the Forest Lake Lions Club The Forest Lake Lions Club of Forest Lake, Minnesota was chartered in May of 1960 with the White Bear Lake Lions Club being the chartering club. Another Forest Lake Lions Club was formed in the 1930s but later disbanded. The club of 1960 has grown from its charter total of 27 members to more than 50 members at various times. The club membership is currently listed at 48. Members of the Forest Lake Lions Club reside in the Forest Lake and surrounding areas. The Forest Lake club is the charter parent of the Wyoming Lions Club. Forest Lake's Lions club has the distinction of having a district governor in 1984, Lion Dick Tyler. Lion Tyler also became an International Director in 1990, serving a two-year term. The local Lions serve all parts of the world, specializing in service to their community. Club projects range from purchasing eye glasses to needy people to building a wheelchair ramp for a disabled individual. The club also sponsors senior dinners, bloodmobiles, helps with community cleanup projects, sells community birthday calendars, provides concessions for the Hay Days snowmobile races in September, sponsors a spaghetti dinner every year and collects used eye glasses to be distributed to the needy in other lands. There are few project challenges that have not been accepted by the Forest Lake Lions Club.
